What do backpacks have to do with survivors of human trafficking you ask?

The Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking, a non-profit in Los Angeles, desperately needs backpacks filled with essential items like toiletries, clean clothes, and snacks. The social services professionals at CAST occasionally need these backpacks at a moment's notice when they are rescuing people from human trafficking. As a Meetup group, we are going to help provide these crucial emergency kits!

We need you to bring any of the following. For clothing, make sure it is new:

toothbrush
toothpaste
shampoo
conditioner
soap / shower gel
washcloth / sponge
comb / brush
hair ties
compact mirror
socks
bra / panties
t-shirt
bath towel
snack items (crackers, cookies)
flip-flops
small notebook
pen/pencil
manila folder or full-sized mailing envelope

Please let us know what you can bring.

Join us and help us make these backpacks that will have a direct impact when people are rescued.

This was a great opportunity by giving people a venue to turn their concerns about Human Trafficking into action. I think it was a great turn out because it gave people a practical way of helping out.
    •  What an awesome and inspiring event! Thanks so much to everyone for coming out and helping put together the backpacks! You have made a difference tonight!
    •  It was very rewarding to help and empowering to be around other humanitarians.
    •  It was so awesome to see so many new faces, and old ones. We had a lot of fun making backpacks and sorting out items for our next meeting. Great job everyone!
