NYC STOP Human Trafficking
|
Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery, involving victims who are forced, defrauded or coerced into labor or sexual exploitation. Traffickers often prey on individuals who may lack access to social safety nets, predominantly women and children in certain countries, including the United States. We are a New York City-based group of members who advocate for the abolishment of human trafficking worldwide. Many of us are ordinary people hoping to take extraordinary strides in the anti-trafficking movement. We are activists, working professionals and students. Many of us know very little about the issue while others have an extraordinary wealth of knowledge and experience in the human rights and social justice arena. Our group is designed and geared for people who wish to become further educated on the topic but also for those who wish to take direct action toward ending this form of modern-day slavery. Our goal is to form a collective group of advocates who - through volunteer work, awareness-raising, capacity building and other outreach initiatives - will ultimately incite an anti-trafficking movement here in New York City.

On May 18, 2008, we will walk to remember those who have lost the fight against AIDS. We will walk to acknowledge those living with the disease. Read more
